Work Days 2012

Most of the work-days for 2012 had to be canceled due to bad weather, mostly rain. We did get one work day in August at McGregor Cemetery.
Saturday, August 19, - McGregor Cemetery - Davis Town Road on Private property.

Work Days 2011

Because of all the extreme hot weather last summer and the snow this past winter, not much work has been done in the cemeteries. Many of the cemeteries are becoming over grown again. Polk County Cemetery Preservation Committee (PCCPC) is planning some Cemetery Clean-up Work Days in April. Anyone that would like to help is welcome. Be sure to bring either a lawnmower, weedeater, or other tools to help with the clean-up. Lunch will be provided by PCCPC. Please send an e-mail to if you plan to attend, so we will know about how much food to prepare. Each event will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Dates & Place of each event:

Saturday, April 2 - Blooming Grove Cemetery - Fullwood Spring Rd & Johnson Lake Road.

Saturday, April 9 - Peek-Wright Cemetery - Antioch Road

Saturday, April 16 - Battletown Cemetery - Johnson Lake Road
Was cancled due to bad weather.

Saturday, April 23 - Teamed up with Keep Polk Beautiful for the Great American Cleanup. We cleaned up Ammons & Brumby Cemeteries.

PCCPC has cleaned up about 25 cemeteries in the past 8 years. We need people or groups to "adopt" them and keep the grass cut. This would be a good project for Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts, School Groups, Church Groups, Civic Groups, or individuals. If you can only cut the grass one time, that would help us greatly. If interested in attending the work day or adopting a cemetery. please e-mail .
We will be glad to answer any question you might have about our projects.

Just a few of the cemeteries that we have worked on. Some have before and after photos.
Anyone that would like to help with one of the cemeteries is more than welcome to help. Just e-mail and let us know which cemetery you would like to help with and when.
